Health Care Student Support Role

The Health Care Student Support Role is a temporary support position for health care students at all levels. In this position students will get paid experience in health care while filling critical clinical and non-clinical support positions. Temporary positions may include duties such as passing food trays, answering call lights, taking vital signs and ambulating patients, etc. Students will receive specialized training related to their support duties. 

Positions with various shifts and flexible scheduling available at all of CoxHealth's hospital campuses in Springfield, Branson, Monett and Lamar. 

Requirements: 

• Education
  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent; previous experience in healthcare related field and/or current enrollment in a healthcare related program, such as nursing, radiology, occupation or physical therapy.
• Experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience in health care setting
• Skills
  • Obtain bedside blood glucose testing
  • Assist with feeding patients and meal tray pass
  • Document meal intake, intake and output
  • Perform or assist with patient bathing and basic hygiene
  • Assist with ambulation, positioning, safe patient handling
  • With RN faculty supervision, nursing students who have completed select competencies may perform identified procedures.

  • Suicide Precaution/Constant Observation Patient Safety Assistant
• Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Required: Must obtain American Heart Association BLS within 90 days of hire
