  • Job Summary
  • This will be a system-level position where the incumbent will be directly responsible for staff education and training related to emergency preparedness, business continuity, and hazardous material decontamination. The Training & Exercise Coordinator serves as the primary facilitator for drill and exercise development throughout the organization. This position will fully manage and be responsible for implementation of the following emergency management, business continuity, and hazardous materials related activities:

    • Provide instruction, knowledge and education of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery measures within CoxHealth policy to staff, volunteers, and contractor/vendors
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement workshops, drills, tabletop exercises, functional level exercises, and full-scale exercises as required through regulatory mandates.
    • Serve as a primary liaison with local community, regional, and state-level agencies for discussions related to emergency management drills, exercises, and training.
    • Develop short and long-range system wide exercise and communication plans in conjunction with local EOCs, MACs, and Emergency Managers.
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement education and training methods relative to business continuity needs organizationally.
    • Assist HazMat instructors with training and exercise needs related to hazardous material decontamination requirements at each campus Emergency Department.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor’s Degree OR High School Diploma AND 3 years’ of Emergency Management/Exercise Practitioner experience
        Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency or Disaster Management
    • Experience
      • Required: 1 years’ emergency management and/or military experience
    • Skills
      • Extensive knowledge of accreditation and regulatory compliance in healthcare, including NFPA 99 and 1600, CMS, and all other pertinent regulatory bodies
      • Performance improvement and/or project management strategies
      • Extensive interaction with local, regional, and state EM agencies
      • Familiarity with ISO: 22301 Business Continuity or similar bodies of work
      • Understanding and knowledge of first receivers hazardous materials decontamination
      • Be able to lift, carry, and pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • Required: Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) Certification within 24 months of hire (based on availability of course admission)
