  • Job Summary
  • An orthopedic technician is an EMCT that has additional training specifically in orthopedic injury stabilization, traction, and splinting/casting. This individual is responsible for assembly of traction devices, preparing for procedures by gathering of all necessary supplies and equipment, and assisting the provider with various orthopedic procedures. This includes the education of the proper and safe application to other ED staff. This employee will also be responsible for inventory management of orthopedic supplies. Additionally, this individual will be required to document procedure in the EMR.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
      • Preferred: Associates Degree in a Related Field
    • Experience
      • Required: 6 months as Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT)
    • Skills
      • Understanding of medical terminology.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Demonstrates competency in proper use of computer software, office equipment and other specialized equipment (i.e.: hand held scanners).
      • Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity and patience when dealing with internal and external customers.
      • Ability to multitask and handle high stress situations.
      • Ability to work effectively as a team member
      • Effective at time management, organizing and planning.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
