  • Job Summary
    • The successful candidate has completed education in the Health Information Management field and has extensive knowledge of the medical legal requirements of maintaining medical records following all regulatory requirements set forth by Federal, State and CoxHealth Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Has proven experience working in a Leadership role in an HIM Department understanding the flow of information from encounter to claim submission and all the steps in between to ensure a complete medical record. Will be the liaison between CoxHealth and their Release of Information Vendor, ensuring medical records are released in accordance with regulatory requirements. Serving as the Custodian of Records; will represent CoxHealth in all court proceedings when required to attend and prepare based on regulation. Works closely with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to CoxHealth Legal and Compliance Departments, local, State, and Federal authorities.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
    • Experience
      • Required: 5 years of Health Information Management experience or similar experience in a related field
      • Preferred: HIM Supervisory or Team Leader Role and experience with Epic.
    • Skills
      • Visual acuity necessary to read and decipher handwriting and electronic documentation.
      • Demonstrates competency with use of computers and various computer programs.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively. Ability to train others.
      • Knowledge of ICD 10 CM/PCS and CPT coding classification systems.
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • Required: (one or more of the following): RHIA, RHIT, CHPS, CDIP, or CCS
