Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Outpatient Oncology provides basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. This includes performing duties such as checking vital signs, and assisting patients with bathing, dressing, ambulation, repositioning, changing linens and other duties as assigned. CNAs are responsible to obtain information related to patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and to report pertinent changes. Additional duties of the CNA include but are not limited to: retrieving nutritional orders from the main hospital on a weekly basis; verifying that all nutritional items are within proper date range for expiration; obtaining blood products from blood bank; transporting specimens to the main laboratory at Cox South, transporting patients as needed via wheelchair to other departments and when exiting after discharge; and maintaining a clean and safe environment by using hospital approved disinfectants to sanitize chairs, beds, and patient care areas after each patient use.
