  • Job Summary
    • The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) will champion and provide leadership for the ongoing development, advancement and optimization of clinical information systems and technology that impact patient care at CoxHealth.
    •  

      The purpose of this position is to promote high quality cost-effective nursing care, patient satisfaction, and healthcare provider/staff satisfaction throughout the health system by facilitating the efficient and effective use of computers and information technology. The CNIO will participate in the design, development, critique, implementation and evaluation of new clinical information technology solutions. He/she will be responsible for the long range plan of clinical care systems. The CNIO will act as both educator of and advocate for clinicians within both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Additionally, the CNIO will be involved in overall clinical information systems’ strategic planning, as well as clinical information systems project planning. He/she will build nursing support for these initiatives while analyzing system performance and end-user acceptance. The CNIO will be strategically and tactically involved with new nursing education. The CNIO will provide the leadership to achieve the ultimate acceptance and use of clinical information systems within the hospital, medical group, and overall health system. The CNIO will serve as the liaison between nursing and IT staff by continuously communicating statuses, analyses, and strategies to key stakeholders.

  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Master’s level degree in Healthcare; (MSN, MBA, Master’s in Nursing Informatics)
    • Experience
      • Required: Five years of nursing experience in hospital setting
      • Preferred: Experience with Cerner EHR in both acute and ambulatory settings
    • Skills
      • Understands major trends in healthcare
      • Must have solid foundation of healthcare informatics knowledge
      • Proven track record of EMR implementation and optimization of analytics
      • Aptitude toward vision and ability to take action and implement
      • Diplomatic and able to navigate diverse situations
      • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner
      • Positively manage, influence and communicate change
      • Ability to persuade nurses and key leaders in the organization
      • Demonstrated expertise acting as “strategic” and “system” thinker in a complex organization
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and, able to handle a diversity of personalities and interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization
