Summary

  • Job Summary
    • The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) will champion and provide leadership for the ongoing development, advancement and optimization of clinical information systems and technology that impact patient care at CoxHealth.
    •  The purpose of this position is to promote high quality cost-effective medical care, patient satisfaction, and healthcare provider/staff satisfaction throughout the health system by facilitating the efficient and effective use of computers and information technology. The CMIO will participate in the design, development, critique, implementation and evaluation of new clinical information technology solutions. He/she will be responsible for the long range plan of clinical care systems. The CMIO will act as both educator of and advocate for clinicians within both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Additionally, the CMIO will be involved in overall clinical information systems’ strategic planning, as well as clinical information systems project planning. He/she will build clinician support for these initiatives while analyzing system performance and end-user acceptance. The CMIO will be strategically and tactically involved with new provider education. The CMIO will provide the leadership to achieve the ultimate acceptance and use of clinical information systems within the hospital, medical group, and overall health system. The CMIO will serve as the liaison between clinicians and IT staff by continuously communicating statuses, analyses and strategies to key stakeholders.

    • The CMIO will engage clinicians and positively influence them to incorporate best clinical evidence to support the following organizational strategic initiatives:

  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Completion of a Doctor of Medicine program.
    • Experience
      • Required: Five years of clinical experience in any inpatient or outpatient medical specialty.
      • Required: Three-five years of experience in healthcare IT with a hospital, healthcare system, IT vendor or consultant, health plan, or other healthcare related organization.
      • Preferred: Experience with Cerner EHR in both acute and ambulatory settings.
    • Skills
      • A contemporary physician who understands major trends in healthcare.
      • Must have solid foundation of healthcare informatics knowledge.
      • Proven track record of EMR implementation and optimization of analytics.
      • Aptitude toward vision and ability to take action and implement.
      • Diplomatic and able to navigate diverse situations.
      • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
      • Positively manage, influence and communicate change.
      • Ability to persuade physicians and key leaders in the organization.
      • Demonstrated senior level experience in decision making.
      • Demonstrated expertise acting as a senior “strategic” and “system” thinker in a complex organization.
