Summary

Job Summary
- Process patient orders for telemetry in a timely fashion.
- Provide appropriate telemetry equipment cleaning after each patient.
- Coordinate with nursing staff each telemetry patients assigned telemetry and admit/discharge patient on telemetry monitor.
- Send telemetry to patient’s floor and remind nursing staff if monitor is not placed promptly.
- Answer phone calls from staff about heart rate and rhythm and determine why patients are off telemetry.
- Continue to monitor telemetry while ordered. Alert nurse of patient rhythm, new dysrhythmias, or changes in patient rate/rhythm.
- Notify nurse of patient return to patient baseline rate and rhythm.
- Follow chain of command when unable to contact primary nurse.
- Keep current and updated information on report sheets.
- Print telemetry strips and send to appropriate floor per policies and protocols.
- Adjust room on telemetry monitor screen when patient room assignment changes when notified by nursing staff.
- When possible assist patients, families, and staff while monitoring telemetry.
- Perform additional responsibilities as delegated by nursing leadership.
Job Requirements
- Education
  - Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience
  - Preferred: EKG or related healthcare experience
- Skills
  - Typing and computer skills
  - Good interpersonal communication
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
  - Required: Must obtain BLS within 90 days of hire
