Summary

  • Job Summary
    • Under the supervision of the STEMI Program Coordinator implements inpatient STEMI related best practices using evidence based guidelines including real-time STEMI patient rounding to support improved quality in the ACC-PCI and Action registries as well as QHIPS and STEMI registries. Responds to the Cardiac Cath Lab STEMI pages during working hours to facilitate and assist in the identification and management of acute STEMI patients. Assists in the training of professional nurses, physicians, and other staff in areas related to clinical requirements and educational efforts of the STEMI Program. Provides coordination and facilitation of performance improvement data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data and outcomes. Collaborates closely with STEMI Program leadership to assure compliance with STEMI standards and guidelines. Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and enhancing the quality of care delivered to STEMI patients though the STEMI Program process. Assists in maintaining compliance with accrediting bodies by performing mandatory clinical chart reviews, educational outreach and community wide educational efforts, mandatory continuous feedback to referring facilities and EMS providers and reevaluation of the process until improvement is demonstrated. Perform 30/60/90 day follow up contact with all STEMI Patients as is mandatory by the state STEMI regulations. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of all patient information. Promotes the concept of cooperation and develops open lines of communication with department employees, patients, visitors, and other personnel within and outside the hospital. Collaborate with the Coordinator in identifying clinical research opportunities, process and quality improvement plans to further improve and strengthen the Level I STEMI Program and ensures that performance of the STEMI Program support the CoxHealth mission to improve the health of the community we serve through quality health care, education and research.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: Graduate of an approved nursing program
      • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and maintains 10 hours of STEMI related continuing education per year
    • Experience
      • Preferred: 2 years critical care or cardiac/telemetry nursing experience
    • Skills
      • Demonstrates leadership skills
      • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to work under pressure
      • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office computer applications
      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
      • Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology as related to STEMI patient care
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • MO RN License
      • BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
      • ACLS must be obtained within one year of hire
