Summary

  • Job Summary
    • Responsible for implementing and coordinating all activities of the hospice spiritual services program and the delivery of spiritual services to patients/families. Responsible as a member of the interdisciplinary team for the provision of spiritual support to patient’s/family’s desire and belief system and consistent with hospice policies and procedures.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: A person who is ordained, commissioned or credentialed according to the practices of an organized religious group.
      • Required: Completed one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); within ninety (90) days of hire OR completed specific training to include: common spiritual issues in death and dying; belief systems of comparative religions related to death and dying; spiritual assessment skills; individualizing care to patient beliefs; and varied spiritual practices/rituals.
    • Experience
      • Required: Demonstrated experience in working with patients/families dealing with life-threatening illness or death.
    • Skills
      • Ability to be open, sensitive, flexible and ecumenical.
