Summary

  • Job Summary
    • Responsible for leading/managing the billing and coding team for daily coding, review, and entry of physician charges, both inpatient and outpatient throughout all of CMG. Must work effectively with physicians, staff, patients and external agencies. Must provide insight to denied claims and create workflows to decrease or eliminate denials. Provide education to providers on coding issues or upcoming changes that will impact their reimbursement. Responsible/accountable for overseeing the reconciliation process for all CMG providers. Collaborates with the staff working edits to identify trends of errors prior to claims submission. Must have the ability take initiative and exercise independent judgment , decision-making and problem solving. Set productivity goals for staff and monitor task management queues as related to coding denials. Manage the scrubbing of the claims prior to submission, and provide feedback to clinics or departments on trends that prevent claims from electronic submission.
  • Job Requirements
    • Education
      • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Experience
      • Required: 2 years medical office/billing experience with 1 year supervisory / leadership experience
    • Skills
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams
      • Medical Terminology
      • Utilizes computer and appropriate software effectively.
      • Excellent time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
      • Proficient in CPT/HCPCS coding, ICD, Medicare guidelines, medical terminology and claims processing.
      • Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding
      • Insurance claims experience
      • Denial Management
      • Reconciliation of claims
    • Licensure/Certification/Registration
      • Required: CCS, CPC or RHIT Certification
