Summary

Job Summary

The Skin/Wound/Ostomy Nurse Manager will have responsibility/accountability for leading and managing the Skin/Wound/Ostomy Department by defining the mission, goals, budget, and performance standards to produce desired outcomes. The Nurse Manager will also provide acute and rehabilitative care for patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems. This specialized nursing care is given independently, and in collaboration with nursing colleagues and/or with members of other health disciplines. The position leads the department in facilitating change, fostering innovation and self-development to achieve excellence in operations, patient safety and quality. Excellent communication skills, leadership ability, time management, and problem solving skills required.

Job Requirements

Education

Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience

Required: 1 year of recent management experience at the Charge Nurse level or higher on a Medical/Surgical Unit or Critical Care Unit.

Required: 2 years recent Wound/Ostomy experience

Skills

  • Operates strategic plan by setting and monitoring department Key performance measures and goals
  • Determines department scope of care or service in relation to values, mission, and strategic plan of the institution
  • Assist with developing long term department plans
  • Working knowledge in human relations, customer service, inventory management
  • Ability to work with multiple people while meeting numerous requests and deadlines
  • Goal oriented with initiative and potentials for self-development. Maintains organizational and priority setting skills
  • Delegates appropriately to other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective leadership abilities

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Required: Current MO RN License and CWON, CWCN, CWOCN, or WCC certification

Preferred: CWOCN certification
