Job Summary
The Billing Specialist is responsible for obtaining and maintaining detailed knowledge of: coding and billing documentation requirements and guidelines by payers; applicable payer systems/websites; timely and effective billing and denial management; Home Support office guidelines and procedures; Home Support/CoxHealth computer systems/software; obtaining prior authorizations from various insurance entities; necessary to perform assigned activities. Schedules compliance follow up with patients and works with various insurance companies to authorize renewals for equipment sale or rental. The Billing Specialist will also be responsible for following Home Support’s policy on collections for all applicable payers. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining well-rounded knowledge of all office functions with which the functions of the position interact, as well as, obtaining and maintaining the capability to manage multiple tasks.

Education
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
Preferred: Prior medical office billing and data entry
Skills
Proficient with computerized financial systems
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs
